At Shine Pediatric Dentistry, we strive to provide you and your child a comprehensive family-centered dental home by nurturing a positive atmosphere that is both fun and informative! As your child grows and matures, each dental visit is unique based on age-appropriate needs. Our pediatric team is specially trained to care for children of all ages while also adapting to better fit each child’s individual needs. Our goal is to provide your family with a safe, educational, and fun place you can call your dental home!

What Happens at the First Visit?

Our first priority is to make your child feel comfortable in the dental setting. With an age-appropriate approach, we introduce each child to our office space and tools in a way that is fun and exciting!

A large portion of the first dental visit is a conversation with parents, or caretakers, regarding overall dental health. Topics may include how to brush a child’s teeth, types of food that promote good health, how to manage teething, and what to do in case of a dental emergency. We leave plenty of time for questions and ensure parents leave feeling confident in caring for their child’s teeth! After a discussion with the parents, we will complete a gentle but thorough dental examination. As we examine the teeth, jaws, gums, and oral structures, we also demonstrate with parents good brushing and flossing techniques. The exam and cleaning can be done in various ways depending on your child’s age and cooperation level.

From the beginning to end of the visit, we do our very best to ensure you and your child are comfortable and that all your questions or concerns are addressed.
